Zool 2 - Atari Jaguar
Man, what is it about Jaguar platform games and characters crippled by slippy / slidey inertia? Bubsy is killed dead by this "feature", and Zool 2 has it enabled by default. Do yourself a favour, and switch this off in the options menu.
Now onto the game, which features..uh...some kind of alien Ninja, whose mission in life is to collect sweets and candy canes until a meter reaches 100%, at which point you leap to the next level. The game looks incredible - dazzlingly fast, hardly any slowdown, large colourful sprites and a lot going on at any one time. It's all too easy to be hit by enemies as you dash across the screen, and there's an INSANE level of product branding for Chupa Chups, who apparently sponsored the game (their sweets are collectable, things appear on the screen with "Chupa Chups" on them, screens inbetween levels have their name plastered all over them).
If you can stomach the advertising in the game, investing a bit of time in this game will be highly rewarded. This is the first game I played on the Jaguar, and it's still one of my favourites.
