Tempest 2000 - Atari Jaguar
This is a conversion of the arcade classic, Tempest. There are a couple of different versions here, but the only one you'll probably bother with is the updated version, Tempest 2000. For those who don't know, each level is a sort of grid that you rotate your ship around. Bad guys that kind of look like bugs creep towards you from the distance and you have to wipe them out before they get to you, or they start walking along the bit that you move on - if they touch you, you lose a life. If they shoot you from afar, you lose a life. You can power up, but if you shoot the power ups before they reach you they're gone forever.
That's it.
I know it doesn't sound very impressive, but once you start playing all those thoughts are quickly forgotten. There's also a really weird and spacey bonus level that involves you flying through hoops, but that isn't very interesting. I could also have done without the incredibly annoying "ooh yeah! wow! awesome! yes! yes! yes!" voice samples every time you do something, or complete a level but oh well.
My favourite game for the Jaguar.
